Main points from the Governor’s message on August 30, 2022 regarding efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19

  • 公開日:2022年09月01日
  • Notice

The number of new coronavirus infection cases in Yamaguchi Prefecture reached a record high on August 18th, and the infection level remains high.

Additionally, the use of secured hospital beds remains high, and the medical system has become more strained due to the increased number of elderly people infected and their longer hospital stays.

In order to protect both the medical system and our everyday lives, we must keep the number of newly infected patients under control. We would like to ask all residents and businesses in the prefecture to cooperate with the following efforts to prevent infection, including thorough the implementation of basic infection prevention measures.

<Please take the following measures to prevent infections>

Elderly people and people with underlying medical conditions who are at high risk of becoming seriously ill should refrain from activities that carry a high risk of infection, such as going out or moving to crowded places.

When meeting with the elderly or people with underlying medical conditions who do not live with you, please take all possible precautions to prevent infection, such as wearing masks during conversation, and refraining from visiting if there is any concern you are infected.

In schools, please take basic infection prevention measures, such as wearing masks and washing hands, and refrain from coming to school if you have symptoms such as a fever or cough.

<Thorough infection prevention measures>

Regardless of whether or not you have been vaccinated, please take basic infection prevention measures such as adequate ventilation, frequent hand washing and disinfection, wearing a mask during conversation, and disinfection of common areas.

<Vigilance in going out and traveling>

When going out, please take all possible measures to prevent infection and refrain from activities with high risk of infection, such as going out or moving to crowded places.

If you have any symptoms of infection, such as a fever or cough, avoid going out or having contact with people, and promptly consult your family doctor or a medical consultation center.

<Measures to take when traveling or dining out>

When going out, use facilities that comply with the guidelines for preventing the spread of infection for each type of business, and when eating out, use “Yamaguchi Safe Restaurants” and cooperate with the infection prevention measures required by the restaurants.

<Use of Free Inspection>

If you are concerned about infection, even if you are asymptomatic, you can take a PCR test or antigen qualitative test at local pharmacies designated by the prefecture, or at centralized PCR testing sites at a city, town or village offices.

<Self-test for mild cases>

If you are between 20 and 50 years old, have only mild symptoms such as a fever of less than 37.5°C or a mild sore throat, and have no underlying medical conditions such as high blood pressure, you can apply online for a free antigen test kit to be shipped to your residence.

<Consideration of Vaccination>

Vaccination prevents the onset and severity of the disease, so please consider vaccination based on an understanding of the vaccine’s effectiveness and risks such as adverse reactions. In particular, young people with low vaccination rates are encouraged to consider vaccination in order to protect themselves and their loved ones, including family and friends.
