Request to the citizens and companies of Yamaguchi Prefecture
May 29th, 2020
After the central governments’ analysis and evaluation, the nationwide declaration of the state of emergency for COVID-19 was lifted on May 25th.
In Yamaguchi, thanks to the cooperation of the citizens and businesses, there have been no new confirmed cases. However, even with the state of emergency lifted, there are many regions that still have new cases and therefore, the spread had not yet ended.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, it is important not to let our guard down and continue taking measures to stop the spread.
I would like to ask for your cooperation and understanding in the following points to prevent the second wave of infections, and toward the recovery of socio-economic activities.
◎Besides essential travel such as going to school, work, hospital etc., please avoid all unessential travel to Kitakyushu city where new cases have been consecutively confirmed.
If you unavoidably must go to Kitakyushu, please take thorough preventative measures.
◎Please carefully consider unessential travel, and if possible, avoid it, to the following 8 prefectures where the state of emergency declaration was lifted after May 21st during the stated period.
◆Osaka, Kyoto, Hyogo (until June 11th)
◆Tokyo, Saitama, Chiba, Kanagawa, Hokkaido (until June 18th)
◎Refraining from travel to outside of the prefecture until the end of May is encouraged. For travel from June, please take into consideration the information provided by Yamaguchi as well as the prefecture that you are traveling to and take measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
◎For businesses, please carefully consider business trips to the 8 prefectures where the state of emergency declaration was lifted after May 21st and to Kitakyushu City where the increase in cases is of concern. Please continue to promote efforts to minimize contact between people such as remote work and video conferencing.
Please also follow the guidelines placed by each industry and take measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
◎Please continue to take preventative measures such as avoiding the 3 C’s (closed spaces, crowded places, and close-contact settings). Please also refer to the ‘New Lifestyle Example’ and continue to take basic preventative measures like social distancing, wearing masks, and washing hands.
