Request to the citizens and companies of Yamaguchi Prefecture
May 15th, 2020
As of yesterday, the nationwide declaration of the state of emergency was lifted in 39 prefectures including Yamaguchi after evaluation and analysis of the infection status.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the citizens and businesses of Yamaguchi that cooperated in mitigating the spread of COVID-19 by staying home, temporarily closing businesses etc. as well as the healthcare workers of the medical provision system.
However, the state of emergency still continues to be in place in 8 prefectures(Tokyo,Kanagawa,Chiba,Saitama,Osaka,Kyoto,Hyogo,Hokkaido) and therefore, our prefecture must not let our guard down and continue to work together to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
It will continue to be a burden to the citizens and businesses but I hope for your understanding and cooperation in the following points to make sure there is not a resurgence of cases.
・Please continue to avoid going to prefectures that are declared a state of emergency to prevent the spread of the virus. Also, besides essential travel such as going to work, school, and hospitals, please avoid all unessential travel to outside of the prefecture.
・Please strongly encourage people that are considering coming home or traveling to Yamaguchi from prefectures declared a state of emergency to stay home. Those who had guests from prefectures declared a state of emergency, please refrain from going out for 2 weeks.
・For businesses, please promote efforts to minimize contact between people such as remote work, video conferencing, and avoid business trips to prefectures declared a state of emergency. Please also follow the guidelines placed by each industry and take measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
・Please continue to take preventative measures such as avoiding the 3 C’s (closed spaces, crowded places, and close-contact settings). Please also refer to the ‘New Lifestyle Example’ indicated at the COVID-19 expert meeting and continue to take basic preventative measures like social distancing, wearing masks, and washing hands.
