Be aware of disasters during the rainy season!

- General
On June 17, it was announced that the rainy season has begun in the northern Kyushu region (including Yamaguchi Prefecture).
During the rainy season, in addition to heavy rains, floods and landslides are more likely to occur.
You should be prepared to take care of and protect yourself.
- Hazard Maps are maps that show dangerous areas and places to evacuate to when heavy rains occur. You can obtain them at your city/town office, or view them online. It is a good idea to check if the area around your house, office, or school is safe.
- Discuss with your family what to do in the event of a disaster, for example, where to gather and how to contact each other.
- When a disaster occurs, water and food may not be readily available. Prepare enough water and food at home to support you and your family for a few days.
- Prepare a bag of things to take with you when you evacuate. You can buy useful items at supermarkets and home centers.
Be sure to read the “Disaster Prevention Handbook for Foreign Residents” (available in 6 languages) to prepare for disasters!
